Clac! works on any iPhone. Fold your iPhone Duo, and today’s paper gets one fold. On any other iPhone, every 500 steps add one.
iPhone Duo: count every fold, even when Clac! isn’t open
Clac! counts your folds while it’s open. To count the rest, add one shortcut once. Setup offers it; you can also do it later:
- Open Clac!, go to Settings, then Background counting.
- Next to Count folds (When iPhone is closed: Log Fold), tap Add and add it in Shortcuts.
- Shortcuts adds it switched off. Tap Open Shortcuts, go to Automation and turn on the Clac! switch.
- Fold your iPhone Duo once. The row gets a tick and the time it counted.
To stop, turn off or delete the Clac! automation in Shortcuts.
No Duo? Your steps fold the paper
Every 500 steps you take, today’s paper gets one fold. Clac! reads your steps whenever it’s open, and now and then in the background when iOS lets it.
- Tap Allow on the Count your steps page, during setup or in Settings > Steps > Count Your Steps as Folds. Allow Steps in Health (iPhone and Apple Watch), then Motion & Fitness.
- Settings > Steps shows when Clac! last read your steps (“Last read 09:41.”).
- Steps left over after a fold count toward the next one. Steps more than 7 days old don’t count.
- No steps today? Today shows nothing about steps until some count. If none ever arrive, turn on Health or Motion & Fitness for Clac! in iOS Settings.
Two iPhones and iCloud Sync
- With iCloud on for Clac!, your iPhones share one fold history. A new iPhone with no folds yet picks it up.
- An iPhone that wasn’t open catches up when you open Clac!.
- Settings > iCloud Sync shows whether it’s on and when it last synced. To turn it off, go to iOS Settings > your name > iCloud.
- Welcome back: on a new install, Clac! brings back the folds you have in iCloud. Continue keeps them.
- Start Fresh, on Welcome back: this iPhone starts a new history. Your earlier folds won’t come back to it; they stay in iCloud for your other iPhones.
- Restore from iCloud… shows in Settings > iCloud Sync when both iPhones folded before they synced. It replaces this iPhone’s folds with the history in iCloud and keeps the current ones as a backup copy.

Widgets
Add Clac! from the widget gallery on your Home Screen or Lock Screen. It shows today’s paper and its folds; the medium one also shows your week.
Crease Check (iPhone Duo)
Settings > Crease Check shows your screen in a few colors and asks how well you see the fold line, so you can compare it over time.
